Blanket Chest

sold out

This is a blanket chest with a difference. It is relatively small at less than. 4 feet long. It has no drawers and has no till inside. But it is very attractive and suitable for storing blankets and out of season clothes.

What makes this piece different is it construction. Instead of the typical 6 board chest that is dovetailed on the sides, this chest is on legs and is frame and panel style. Even though the legs are short, they give the piece a very different feel that the standard skirted chest. Additionally, the frames provide more visual interest than the typical slab sides in the 6-board chest.

This is a reproduction of an American Primitive piece originally made from pine and painted with milk paint (and that is an option). Other options are higher grades of wood, dyes or stained finishes. The original has a lid to hold the top open, but the version shown has spring mounted hinges (Not Shown) to prevent a sudden close and pinched fingers.
